Do your closets look a mess — I mean a REAL mess ? Then you are probably in the market to buy some closet shelving. But what kind? If you are looking for closet shelving that is lightweight, you should look into purchasing some wire closet shelving. Wire closet shelving has an advantage over other types of shelving: despite being lightweight it does not sacrifice strength.

One of the leading manufacturers of wire closet shelving is ClosetMaid. They make a number of different wire closet shelving units. One of their most well-known products, I suppose, is their ShelfTrack 8-in-1 closet organizer. One source that I checked with is currently selling this wire closet shelving organizer for just over $115. Its overall dimensions are 60.375″ x 96″ by 12 5/8″. This wire closet shelving unit is designed to fit in a standard eight-foot closet, and will allow you to create up to 20 feet of storage space or 11 feet of hanging room, when you choose from one of 8 different configurations. Highly recommended!

If you are just looking for a single shelf, then you might choose to put up a white wire shelf, also made by ClosetMaid. It is 16′ x 16″ and includes all of the hardware that you will need to mount it. This is a nice little closet shelf that will fit in just about any closet in your home.

If what you need is more hanging space, rather than storage space, in your closet, then I highly recommend the ClosetMaid 6-foot super slide 12 inch kit. This wire closet shelving unit is 6″ x 72″ x 12″, and includes all the necessary hardware, including a heavy-duty hanger bar. It is priced at just under $25.

Here’s another great product for your closet: The ClosetMaid 7 inch deep sliding basket. Priced at under $18 its size is 7″ x 21″ x 13″ and will work with either a ShelfTrack or fixed-mount type of installation. This is a great way to add a large-size wire basket to any existing wire closet shelving that you may already have.

Finally, here’sone just for the guys — a sliding tie and belt rack that attaches to your existing wire closet shelving. Also made by ClosetMaid, and under $15, when installed it will give you 30 hooks for storage of your favorite belts, ties, suspenders etc. The nice thing about this wire closet shelving unit is that it slides out so you can retrieve the items that you need very easily, without disturbing other items hanging in your closet.
